[ARCHIVED] Community Update from the Town Manager, Christopher Bromson:

Community Update from the Town Manager, Christopher Bromson:

We have been notified by Eversource that Enfield is receiving crews for both the road closures and customer restorations today August 8th. Since Wednesday, there were six crews sent to the Bailey Road area to restore power for approximately 2,000 customers; additionally power was restored at Woodside Park. The current outages for Enfield are approximately 2,300.

Please do not approach downed trees to remove them as they could be energized and remain a danger. By law and for safety, our Department of Public Works cannot move limbs or branches tangled in electrical wire. We must wait for Eversource to assist our Public Works crew to resolve those situations. When Eversource arrives and finishes repairing those lines, our Department of Public Works will remove any remaining debris from the roadways as soon as possible. Based upon the extent of the damage, this will take multiple days to accomplish.

We have extended hours at the Transfer Station this past week and for today, Saturday August 8, it will remain open until 3:30. Please bring any branches or tree limbs during those hours.

The Office of the Town Manager has issued a letter to Eversource on Thursday, August 6th, to request their immediate attention to our Town. Additionally, we contacted all of our State and Federal representatives for assistance. We share your frustration with the situation and have done all we can to pressure Eversource to restore power expediently to our residents.

At this time, we would recommend contacting your State Representatives as the State is solely responsible for the regulation and oversight of Eversource.
