ENFIELD PRISON/TOWN LIAISON COMMITTEE

MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING

September 13, 2006

CALL TO ORDER

A Regular Meeting of the Enfield Prison/Town Liaison Committee was held at the Enfield Town Hall, Hazardville Room, Enfield, Connecticut on Wednesday, September 13, 2006. Chairman Nowak called the meeting to order at 7:00.

ROLL CALL

Committee members present were: Chairman Tophie Nowak and Gretchen Pfeifer-Hall.

Liaisons present were: Councilman Cynthia Mangini and Lt. Zaczynski standing in for Deputy Chief Anjo Timmerman.

Present from the Department of Corrections were: Warden Peter Murphy, Enfield; Warden Esther Torres, Willard/Cybulski and Warden Bruce Cuscovitch, Robinson.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

The minutes from the June 14, 2006 meeting were passed unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS

Report of Chairman

Chairman Nowak stated there are no problems of the parameters of the prison area. She has received good comments regarding the landscaping at the intersection near the facility.

Update of Notification System

Chairman Nowak mentioned that she will be changing her phone system because she is not always getting the notifications.

Review of Significant Incidents or Policy Changes

CRCI – Warden Cuscovitch. Quiet.

Enfield – Warden Peter Murphy. Quiet.

Willard – Warden Esther Torres. Quiet.

NEW BUSINESS

Nothing to report.

OPEN FORUM AND PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

Gretchen Pfeifer-Hall asked if the Corrections' residents would be helping in the CT River Cleanup. Warden Torres will look into this.

Councilman Mangini questioned the vacancies on the committee and if there were any applications.

Ms. Pfeifer Hall mentioned that the Shaker property is not being maintained and if it is the State that is responsible how do we proceed in having them attend to this matter.

Lt. Zaczynski informed the wardens of the wake and funeral for Lance Corporal Philip Johnson and that Shaker Road will be congested on Thursday and Friday of this week.

DATE OF NEXT MEETING

Chairman Nowak stated the next meeting is scheduled for December 13, 2006 at the Prison.

ADJOURNMENT

The meeting stood adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
