CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Mike Dynia called the meeting to order at 7:06 P.M. in the Enfield Room.
ROLL CALL: Commissioner Pfeifer-Hall performed the roll call. The following commissioners were in attendance:

Chairman Dynia empowered Comm. Vose, Comm. Kneiss and Comm. Gamble to act as voting members.

PUBLIC INPUT: Chairman Dynia noted that there were no persons present to give public input.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Chairman Dynia asked for comments regarding the minutes of May 8, 2007. Motion to approve the minutes, as amended, made by Comm. George seconded by Comm. Gamble and So Voted. Comm. Kneiss abstained.
CORRESPONDENCE: Staff liaison asked about renewing the membership to CACIWC. Motion to renew the membership made by Comm. George, seconded by Comm. Pfeifer-Hall and So Voted.
Staff liaison presented the DEP Green Plan that was e-mailed to members.
Comm. Pfeifer-Hall said that there was good attendance at the electronic recycling program. By law every town in Connecticut will have to have a recycling program.
EXECUTIVE SESSION: Motion made by Comm. Pfeifer-Hall and seconded by Comm. Vose to go into Executive Session and So Moved. No decisions were made and no votes were taken.
OPEN SPACE: No report
FARMLAND PRESERVATION: Comm. McGuire presented a draft letter to the property owners who have a 490 designation asking if they would like to participate in the Farmland Preservation program. Comm. Pfeifer-Hall stated that she thought more program information should be included. Comm. McGuire said that he planned to include an informational brochure with the letter. He has permission from the State to do so. He does not believe that small parcels should be included in the mailing. Comm. Vose asked about the benefit to the property owner and Comm. McGuire responded that is financial and that restrictions are place in the deed. He has also spoken to the Assessors office and gained an understanding of the codes on the 490 list. Commissioners approved the letter and Comm. McGuire will review the list of 490 properties for acreage that is appropriate for the mailing.
AQUIFER PROTECTION: Comm. Pfeifer-Hall reviewed the letter that is to be presented regarding the proposed development at Taylor Road and North Street. She remembers that Roger Olsen investigated some possible contamination near the proposed site. If the property is to be developed, there should be a plan to clean up any contamination
ARCHAEOLOGICAL PROTECTION: No report
SPECIAL PROJECTS: Comm. George spoke to Henry Dutcher, the Library Director, and they decided that a tree honoring MaryLou Strom would be better planted next spring.
REAL ESTATE: Comm. Gamble noted that the Amtrak rail line is being reconstructed with concrete ties from Broad Brook Road to the state line.
STAFF LIAISON: No report
Liaison Report- Northern CT Land Trust: Comm. Dynia reported that Jerry Stage is leading a hike this week-end.
Liaison Report - Scantic River Watershed Association –The fishing class held on May 15-17 at the Angelo Lamanga Center went very well. There will be a full moon kayak event on July 29.
NEW BUSINESS: Review of the Plan of Conservation and Development. Tabled until the next meeting.
Comm. McGuire noted that a local Farmer’s Market will be held on the Town Green each Wednesday afternoon beginning on June 20.
NEXT MEETING DATE: Chairman Dynia noted the next meeting date will be on July 10, 2007.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Comm. Vose to adjourn the meeting at 8:44, seconded by Comm. Kneiss and So Voted.
