ENFIELD TOWN COUNCIL
MINUTES OF A PUBLIC INFORMATION SESSION/HEARING
JANUARY 2, 2001
A Public Hearing was held in the Council Chambers of the Enfield Town Hall, 820 Enfield Street, Enfield, Connecticut on Tuesday, January 2, 2001. Acting Chairman Falk called the Public Hearing to order at 6:46 p.m.
ROLL-CALL  Present were Councilmen Dodd, Egan, Falk, Fiore, Giddings, Hall, Kaupin, Mangini, McGuire, and Vayda. Chairwoman Strom was absent. Also present were Town Manager, Scott A. Shanley; Assistant Town Manager, Daniel T. Vindigni; Town Clerk, Suzanne F. Olechnicki; Director of Public Works, John Kazmarski.
Deputy Mayor Peter Falk chaired the Public Hearing in the absence of Chairwoman Mary Lou Strom.
Acting Chairman Falk read the following notice of Public Hearing which was published in the Journal Inquirer on Saturday, December 23, 2000:
TOWN OF ENFIELD
LEGAL NOTICE PUBLIC INFORMATION SESSION/HEARING
TUESDAY, JANUARY 2, 2001
"Notice is hereby given that the Enfield Town Council will hold a Public Information Session/Hearing in the Enfield Town Hall, Council Chambers, 820 Enfield Street, Enfield, Connecticut on Tuesday, January 2, 2001 at 6:30 p.m. regarding the Traffic Calming Policy".
Acting Chairman Falk invited the Town Manager to give a presentation.
Mr. Shanley stated a couple years ago, the Town began the process of developing a policy. He noted a committee of about 13 people worked on this. He stated the membership represented various town agencies, insurance company, and school department. He noted the committee reviewed a number of different policies from around the country. He stated Councilmen Fiore and Falk worked with staff to make changes to the draft, and the results of all the changes are what is before the Council this evening. He noted this basically outlines a process in order to designate an area for traffic calming. He pointed out it doesnt designate any given area.
Acting Chairman Falk invited comments from the audience.
As no one wished to speak, Acting Chairman Falk closed the Public Information Session/Hearing at 6:50 p.m.
