ENFIELD TOWN COUNCIL
MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING
JULY 29, 2002
A Special Meeting of the Enfield Town Council was called to order by Chairman Vayda in the Council Chambers of the Enfield Town Hall, 820 Enfield Street, Enfield, Connecticut on Monday, July 29, 2002 at 9:34 p.m.
ROLL-CALL - Present were Councilmen Edgar, Fiore, Hall, Kaupin, Mangini, Strom, Tait, Tallarita, and Vayda. Councilman Egan was absent. Also present were Town Manager, Scott A. Shanley; Assistant Town Manager, Daniel Vindigni; Director of Finance, Gregory Simmons.
APPOINTMENTS (TOWN MANAGER)
MOTION #6055 by Councilman Strom, seconded by Councilman Tallarita to accept the Town Manager's recommendation to appoint Thomas Baziak (D) to the Fair Rent Commission for a term which expires 06/30/03.
Upon a SHOW-OF-HANDS vote being taken, the Chair declared MOTION #6055 adopted 9-0-0.
RESOLUTION #6056 by Councilman Strom, seconded by Councilman Tait.
WHEREAS, the property at 6 Gorman Avenue was destroyed by fire; and
WHEREAS, the owner removed the hazardous material on site; and
WHEREAS, the Building Inspector's Office has recommended to the Town Manager that the building is a hazard and should be declared so and removed; and
WHEREAS, the Council has authorized the process to acquire the property; and
WHEREAS, in the interest of time, the Town Manager has received three quotes for the demolition of the structure with the lowest being Associated Wrecker's at $11,300;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Enfield Town Council waives the formal bid process to accept Associated Wrecker's Bid.
Upon a ROLL-CALL vote being taken, the Chair declared RESOLUTION #6056 adopted 9-0-0.
DISCUSSION RE: RECREATION REFERENDUM
It was the consensus of the Council to give more direction to Town staff at the August 5th Town Council meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
MOTION #6057 by Councilman Tait, seconded by Councilman Mangini to adjourn.
Upon a SHOW-OF-HANDS vote being taken, the Chair declared MOTION #6057 adopted 9-0-0, and the meeting stood adjourned at 9:42 p.m.
