EITC

Did you work in 2006?
If so, a family that earned less than $38,348 may get up to $4,536 from the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)!

An individual who earned less than $14,120, you may get up to $412 from the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)!

  • Tax time can be the right time to add money to your income.
Tax-filing season can be an opportunity for individuals and families at specific income levels to get ahead. The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and related child care and education credits can provide hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars in tax refunds to workers.

  • But you can only receive a refund if you file a tax return.
Free tax preparation by IRS-trained volunteers is available during the tax filing season. Certified preparers will determine if you qualify for tax credits and refunds and will help you file your tax forms so that you receive the money as soon as possible. No preparation fees or rapid refund costs will be charged so you will receive your full refund.

  • Call 2-1-1 to locate a free tax preparation site.
Information and support are available to help you make your income go further. Trained volunteers at the tax preparation sites also will be able to assist you in building a budget, applying for credit repair assistance, learning about programs to save for a home, education, or to start a business and much more.

  • Think about saving and growing all or a portion of your refund.
If you self-prepare your tax forms, review and file using IRS publication 596.

The 2007 Hartford area EITC Campaign is a project of the Hartford Asset Building Collaborative, led by Co-opportunity, Inc. Collaborative partners include the Connecticut Association for Human Services, Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, Internal Revenue Services, Making Connections in Hartford a project of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, Office of Mayor Eddie A. Perez, and United Way of the Capital Area.
