Farmers Market Vouchers for Seniors Now Available
Neighborhood Services has 400 packets of Senior Farmers Market Vouchers to distribute to eligible Enfield seniors. Each eligible participant will be given a packet of $15 worth of checks that can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at Connecticut Farmers Markets.
Participants must have a maximum household income of not more than 185 percent of the annual poverty income guidelines. This is $18,130 annually for individuals and $24,420 for couples.
The state definition of senior is any person 62 or older, or any person with a permanent disability, living in a subsidized senior complex.
Neighborhood Services will oversee the distribution of the vouchers and they will be available for eligible senior at their office at 786F Enfield Street, Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Linda Sokolowski is in the process of making arrangements with the Enfield Housing Authority to distribute the vouchers at the Senior Housing Sites within the next several weeks. The Senior Center will also be distributing them to eligible seniors during the lunch program.
In addition, Dial-a-Ride is providing a bus that will go to each Senior Housing Site in Enfield each Wednesday afternoon with the Enfield Farmers Market as the sole destination.
