Household Hazardous Waste Collection - June 1, 2013 Recycle

The Refuse and Resource Management Division is responsible for the collection and disposal of trash and recyclables. Trash and recycling are collected on a four-day weekly schedule, Monday through Thursday. Trash collected within the Town of Enfield is transported to the Covanta Energy Facility in Agawam, MA. Recyclables collected are brought to the transfer station and delivered to the USA Hauling Facility in Berlin, CT.

Yard waste is collected every Friday. During holiday weeks, there will be No Yard Waste collection.

The division is also responsible for bulky waste collection. Residents can call the Refuse and Resource Management Division at 763-7560 to schedule an appointment. A $100.00 fee is required and must be paid prior to the date of the pick up.

Waste oil and batteries are usually collected every third Saturday of the month at the Public Works Complex at 40 Moody Road from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. There are no fees for this service.

Electronic waste can be brought to the transfer station on Town Farm Road at no cost.  This is for residents only, electronics from business are not accepted, and proof of residency must be shown.  Transfer station hours are Tues. - Fri. 8:00 am to 2:45 pm and Sat. 8:00 am to 3:45 pm.

The household hazardous waste and paper shredding program is offered once a year. This special collection is typically in May.  Please check back on the website for the date.

The division also operates the Transfer Station located on Town Farm Road. There is a required $5.00 permit for residents to use the facility. Residents can bring large, bulky items and must go over a scale at a fee of $0.07 per pound. The minimum charge is $7.00. Items containing Freon, such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and dehumidifiers can also be brought to the transfer station for a $20.00 per item fee. Residents may bring their yard waste for disposal. Disposal of yard waste is free with a valid permit.
