- HOURS OF WORK: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: Six years of experience performing the essential functions of this position. Possession of a valid driver's license.
SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED:
o A Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, social services, or related field, and two (2) years experience as a supervisor.
o A Master's degree in business administration, public administration, social services, or a related field, and one (1) year of experience as a supervisor.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Responsible position which ensures that the Town's Senior Citizens have reliable transportation to and from a variety of appointment destinations and provides necessary supervision to this division.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to the Director of Social Services.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Directly oversees all drivers and other staff assigned to the division.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Supervises all division staff; trains all drivers and support staff; markets and is responsible for public relations for program; develops the division budget and submits same to the Director of Social Services; assists with transportation grant writing; develops long range planning for program; responds to citizen and rider complaints; completes weekly payroll; answers dial-a-ride telephone; develops computerized dispatch system utilizing GPS for all vehicles ; schedules vehicles and drivers for daily appointments and special events; solicits and coordinates volunteers; assists in hiring of drivers; compiles and prepares statistical data for required report; evaluates drivers work performance; administers random drug test program for DOT drivers; completes audits for transit district; regular & punctual attendance.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: May do some driving; performs related work as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be required to stoop, reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, feel to operate objects, tools or controls; talk and hear. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers, various pieces of office equipment and busses.
Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet. The employee occasionally operates a motor vehicle and is exposed to driving in various climates and conditions and is exposed to certain particles and fumes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: Knowledge of Town streets and local facilities or ability to learn same quickly; knowledge of services and programs available to senior citizens; ability to perform simple clerical tasks; ability to use two-way radio/cell phone and other communication devices; proficient with computers (including, but not limited to MS office, Excel and GIS); ability to work harmoniously with public; ability to diagnose vehicle problems and some knowledge of vehicle repair.
