HEAD TEACHER - CHILD DAY CARE

Ø RATE OF PAY: $30,515 - 35,037
Ø EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood with student teaching and must have two (2) years of working experience with young children or hold a Bachelor's degree in a closely related field and have three (3) years of working experience with young children or any equivalent combination of experience and education.
Ø HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours per week, which may be a straight be straight or split shift during the hours of the Day Care - 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Highly responsible position involving the development, management and implementation of daily programs based on the readiness of the children.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general direction of the Executive Director of the Day Care Program.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Directly supervises teachers, teacher assistants and teacher aides.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assists the Executive Director in administering the Day Care Center in addition to carrying out the duties as outlined for the teacher; develops and implements the daily program designed to meet the social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of each child; provides care and protection of children; maintains records as indicated; regular and punctual attendance.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Performs related work as required.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus.

Noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: Extensive knowledge in the teaching and training of children; knowledge of the administration of a day care facility; ability to maintain records; ability to write reports; ability to communicate with children and parents; ability to supervise.
