POSITION VACANCY

DEPUTY DIRECTOR - CHILD DAY CARE

 

      Ø      CLOSING DATE:  WEDNESDAY, JULY 14, 2004
Ø      RATE OF PAY:  $38,319 - 43,643

      Ø      EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:  Masters Degree in Business Administration or Early Childhood Education and at least 2 years experience in related field; or  Bachelors degree in Business Administration or Early Childhood Education  or related field and at least 3 years experience in a business field or an equivalent combination of experience and training.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Child Day Care performs varied and independent work in conducting research, coordinating activities and maintaining records and centralized data for a wide range of projects.  Assists the Executive Director in routine management details.  Acts as Director in the Director's absence.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to the Executive Day Care Director. 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervises staff as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Regular and punctual attendance; assists the director in the daily activities of the department; assists in development of policies; assists in staff development;  processes financial statements and grant applications; conducts administrative research on special projects; prepares correspondence and maintains records as required; handles financial transactions as required; assists in development of day care budget; attends Day Care Advisory meetings in Director's absence; compiles and analyzes statistical information; is responsible for bookkeeping, billing and collection duties; makes bank deposits; coordinates parent groups; coordinates internship programs with area colleges; may supervise or assist in classroom as needed; supervises all staff as assigned and is responsible for the program in the Director's absence.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Assists in the coordination of the activities, programs and operation of the Center as required by Director; performs related work as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear, uses hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to walk; lift climb, push or pull objects up to 20 pounds.  Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption, attend to task for 45 - 60 minutes at a time, and remember multiple assignments given over long periods of time.  Must be able to perform highly complex and varied tasks requiring independent knowledge.

May be exposed to dust, fluctuation in inside temperatures and electro-magnetic radiation as in a computer screen.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet or moderate.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: Strong business background; ability to express ideas effectively in oral or written form; knowledge of research techniques and statistical concepts and methods; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, parents and the general public; ability to relate and care for children when required; must be computer proficient; knowledge of day care centers is helpful.
