POSITION VACANCY

PER DIEM CNA - ADULT DAY CENTER

Ø  CLOSING DATE:  TUESDAY, MAY 25, 2004

Ø   RATE OF PAY:  $11.33/hr

Ø   EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:  Graduation from high school or general equivalency degree and one (1) year of experience in an adult daycare environment is desirable, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must be certified by the State of Connecticut as a Home Health Aide or Nurses Aide.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:  A demanding and responsible position, which provides non-skilled nursing and other essential services to frail, elderly clients in an adult daycare facility.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  Works under the direct supervision of the Director of Adult Day Center and/or the nurse in charge of the Center.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:  Provides limited nursing to frail, elderly individuals according to a plan determined by a physician and/or nurse; prepares and serves meals including special diets; cleans up after meals and cleans the daycare facility including bathroom areas and floors; physical, occupational, and speech therapy as outlined by a licensed therapist; assists the Therapeutic Recreation Director as required; provides and/or assists with activities of daily living such as grooming (oral hygiene, bathing/showering, incontinence care, etc.; obtains/performs vital signs; knows and is able to respond to emergency needs such as the Heimlich Maneuver and CPR; performs other related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & ABILITY:  Knowledge of non-skilled nursing care to deliver full-range of care to clients; knowledge and ability to perform emergency medical techniques such as Heimlich maneuver and CPR, knowledge of diet therapy to prepare special restricted diet meals; physical, speech and occupational therapy skills to facilitate following care plans.
