POSITION VACANCY

 PART-TIME DIAL-A-RIDE DRIVER

Ø   RATE OF PAY: $10.30 per hour

Ø   CLOSING DATE:  Tuesday, May 11, 2004

Ø   REQUIREMENTS:  Valid Commercial Driver's License with Passenger Vehicle  Endorsement

Ø   HOURS OF WORK:  Less than 20 per week

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Responsible for transporting senior citizens and handicapped persons in a variety of Town vehicles.  Drives a variety of Town vehicles; transports senior citizens and handicapped persons to and from appointments; operates two-way radio; collects fees; responsible for the cleanliness of the vehicles; responsible for bringing vehicle in for maintenance.  May on occasion drive for other Town departments; performs related work as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, walk, talk, and hear.

The employee must frequently lift up to 40 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:  Skill in the operation of a variety of vehicles; knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances and rules involved in vehicle operation; knowledge of the geography of the Town; ability to operate a two-way radio; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; considerable ability to understand and deal with people, such as senior citizens and people that are handicapped.
