SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER - CHILD DAY CARE

RATE OF PAY: $17.00 - $20.00/hr

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Experience in early childhood development or closely related field, preferably with one (1) year experience in the teaching and training of young children with special needs.

HOURS OF WORK:This is a temporary, non-benefited, position, working one-on-one with a special needs child.Full-time, 35 hours per week through the summer, then part-time once school begins.The position is anticipated to be needed for 6 months to a year.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Responsible position involving one-on-one interaction with a special needs child between the age of four (4) and eight (8) years of age.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general direction of the Director and Deputy Director of the Day Care Center.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Teaches and trains special skills to a specific child in the Day Care Center; provides care and protection to assigned to the child; maintains records of child's progress; reports to Director/Deputy Director any concerns relevant to staff/clients/parents; regular & punctual attendance.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: Considerable knowledge in teaching and training of children ages eight weeks through twelve (12); ability to maintain simple records; ability to write explanatory reports; ability to communicate with children and their parents; ability to prepare lesson plans that meet the needs of the children.
