POSITION VACANCY

TEACHER ASSISTANT - CHILD DAY CARE

 

  • APPLICATION DEADLINE: TUESDAY, AUGUST 16, 2005

  • SALARY RANGE: $22,805 - $26,225

  • HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours per week. Hours of work could be straight or split shift during the hours of the Day Care - 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

  • EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development or related field, or Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate, and one (1) to two (2) years of experience in dealing with young children. Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: This position involves responsible work assisting the teacher of a day care class in the development of children aged eight (8) weeks through twelve (12).May act as teacher in teacher's absence.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general direction of the Head Teacher and reports to Head Teacher concerning lesson plans and general duties in the classroom.

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Will supervise aide if necessary.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Cooperates with and assists the teacher in planning, carrying out activities and evaluating children; maintains records as instructed; plans and arranges all necessary teaching material with the teacher; attend staff and training meetings as required; keep classroom in order; keep equipment and supplies in good condition; regular & punctual attendance.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Perform related work as required.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions or airborne particles.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: Some knowledge of teaching children ages eight (8) weeks through twelve (12); ability to maintain simple records; ability to maintain orderly conduct; ability to communicate with children and ability to communicate with children and their parents. Required to take periodic educational courses to meet state guidelines.
