POSITION VACANCY

INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN - IT

 

  • APPLICATION DEADLINE: Thursday, January 26, 2006

  • SALARY RANGE: $32,688 - $39,147

  • HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours per week.

  • EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Two (2) year degree in computer technical field and one (1) year of experience in operations or programming or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Highly technical independent work which involves meeting schedules; problem resolution; first line troubleshooting, independent thinking and support of software, hardware peripherals and accessories.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the direction of the Information Systems Director.

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Maintains up-to-date knowledge of computer operating procedures and operating standards; meets production schedules for work as assigned; identifies system malfunctions and initiates corrective action to maintain schedules and to ensure integrity of files and outputs; provides help desk support to users; initializes computer with required system software; observes ongoing operations and analyzes performance to identify problems; provides first line troubleshooting for software and hardware problems; initiates corrective action where required, within the scope of knowledge and authority; interprets console messages from system software or application programs and performs required actions; fulfills administrative reporting as required; maintains system security and access to multiple applications; performs complex problem analyses across multiple areas; regular & punctual attendance.

Hand-eye coordination required operating computer and other office equipment. The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch.

 

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: Knowledge of operation of hardware components, data processing concepts and operating systems; ability to analyze and solve day-to-day operational problems; knowledge of PC's; ability to maintain effective relationships with other agencies, divisions, departments and employees. Problem resolution skills; light programming skills.
