INVITATION TO BID
ALTERATIONS TO 100 HIGH STREET
OCTOBER 6, 2005
Bid opening date changed from Tuesday, November 1 to Wednesday, November 9, 2005.
Sealed bids will be received on a General Contract, for Alterations to 100 High Street, Enfield, CT.
“The Work” consists of demolition of approximately 1,900 s.f. of an existing one story building, alterations / improvements to the remaining building adjacent to the demolition, construction of new accessible toilets and related mechanical and electrical alterations as called for in Bidding Documents prepared by the Architect, The Lawrence Associates, Architect/Planners, P.C., 1075 Tolland Turnpike, Manchester, CT 06042, (860) 643-2161.
Bids shall include Lump Sum for the total Work.
Bidding Documents may be examined at the F. W. Dodge Plan Rooms in Rocky Hill, Connecticut and Department of Public Works, Town of Enfield, Enfield, Connecticut.
Copies of the Bidding Documents may be obtained at the office of the Town of Enfield Public Works, 40 Moody Road, Enfield, CT 06082 during the hours of 9:00am to 4:00pm on or after October 6, 2005. A non-Refundable deposit will be $50. per set, check made payable to The Town of Enfield. No partial sets of Documents will be issued. No sets will be mailed.
Prepare proposal on the Bid Form provided. Submit four (4) signed copies of the Bid sealed and delivered to the office of the Director of Finance, Town Hall, 820 Enfield Street, Enfield, CT 06082, on or before 11:00AM, Wednesday, November 9, 2005. Bids delivered after that time will not be accepted. Bids will be opened publicly at that time and read aloud. The right is reserved to reject any and all bids or to waive defects in same if deemed to be in the best interest of the Town of Enfield. The name of the project must be clearly marked on the envelope of all sealed bids.
Bids may not be withdrawn for a period of 60 days after the due date for submittal without the written consent of the Owner.
A mandatory Pre-Bid Conference will be held at 10:00a.m., Monday, October 17, 2005 at 100 High Street, Enfield CT. All Bidders are required to attend and participate in the conference to be considered for the work. The Town of Enfield will forward the Pre-Bid Conference meeting notes, sign in sheets and addenda to only those contractors or subcontractors who attended the mandatory Pre-Bid Conference. It will be the responsibility of those contractors that attended the Pre-Bid meeting to provide all required bid documents to those subcontractors they wish to include and list as part of their bid.
A Bid Security of ten percent (10%) of the bid shall be filed with the Bid. It may be either a certified/cashiers check or a Bid Bond made payable to the Town of Enfield. The successful Bidder shall furnish Performance and Labor and Material Payment Bonds, each for 100 percent of the Contract Sum following notice of award. A certificate of insurance with the Town of Enfield, named as additional insured, must be submitted with the bid package.
In the event The Work is not completed on or before the agreed upon date, and time being of the essence, the successful Bidder shall agree to pay liquidated damages as stated in the Bidding Documents. It is the intention that mobilization will begin on or about November 7, 2005 and shall obtain substantial completion with a certificate to occupy no later than December 31, 2005.
The Owner reserves the right to accept any bid or reject any or all bids and to waive information in the bidding.
