News Release for the Week of February 1, 2016

We are offering something new that you may want to try. Reiki is an ancient Japanese method of healing using energy believed to improve just about any aspect of life from physical health and emotional well-being to stress reduction and mental clarity. You are fully clothed during a session and, different than massage, no touch or a light touch is applied. Reiki is a popular means of relaxing, calming and healing. Stacey Ford, Reiki Master, will be offering this service on Thursdays beginning Thursday, February 4 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The cost is $25 for a 25 minute session. Please make an appointment for a Reiki session by calling the Senior Center office.

Community Health Center, Inc. will provide dental hygiene at the Senior Center for $30 or services at 100% covered by HUSKY/Medicaid. Make an appointment for Monday, February, 29 through Friday, March 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. by calling the Senior Center office.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with the sounds of The Platters. On Friday, February 12 at 6 p.m., Tony Funches and his full band, perform hits including, “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,” “Only You,” and “The Great Pretender.” A special dessert will be served at the break. Tickets are on sale for $7 per person.

Join us for a Facebook class on Thursday, February 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. Please register in advance by calling the Senior Center office.

I need your assistance. If you know any employers looking for mature, responsible 50+ workers, let them know that we are offering a free table at our 50+ Employment Expo on Saturday, February 27 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. More information can be found on our website. Thanks for your help.

Springtime flowers will be in bloom at the Boston Flower Show on March 18, 2016. Our day-trip to Boston will begin with lunch at Maggiano’s. Maggiano’s is well-known for their Italian-American fare. After a delicious lunch, we’re off to the flower show to enjoy colorful displays of flowers and beautiful landscapes. After the show, we’ll head over to Quincy Market for some free-time to enjoy the unique shops and get something to eat before heading home. Reservations are being taken at the Senior Center for $108 per person.

It’s not too late to make plans for your summer vacation. Join us on a wonderful 9-day trip to explore America’s Canyon Country on June 9- 17, 2016. • Newport Playhouse “One Slight Hitch”, April 12, 2016. Cost: $91 pp. Trip sign-up date is February 5, 2016.
• The Metropolitan Opera “Otello”, April 23, 2016. Cost $153 - $162 pp. Reservations being taken at this time.
• Albany Tulip Festival, May 7, 2016. Cost: $84 per person. Trip sign-up date is March 11, 2016.
• “Shadows of the 60s” at Foxwoods Resort, May 18, 2016. Cost $80 per person. Trip sign-up date is March 18, 2016.
