News Release for the Week of May 23, 2016

Enfield Police Senior Picnic is the signal that summer is on the way. The annual picnic is sponsored by the Enfield Police Union and Police Benevolent Association. Join our wonderful Enfield Police on Friday, June 10 at noon for a free hot dog and hamburger and musical entertainment by Rock Solid Alibi. Bring a chair, your dancing shoes and an appetite. In the event of inclement weather, the event is moved indoors. Free tickets are available in the Senior Center office.

The Enfield Senior Center Goldtones have put together a delightful show to be held on Thursday, June 16 at 6 p.m. Dessert will be served following the performance. Tickets are on sale for the Goldtones Concert for $5 per person.

Jaime Ingaran, who is our Evening Program Coordinator, thought you might like to binge watch Downton Abbey, Season 1, at a slower pace. She will be showing the award-winning British drama every Wednesday, from June 1- July 13 at 5:30 p.m. There is no fee for this event but it would be very helpful if attendees would register in advance.

Health New England is sponsoring a Healthy Cooking Demonstration on Thursday, June 2 at 1 p.m. It is fun to learn about healthy eating while watching the steps in preparation. There will be a tasting too!

Meals-on-Wheels is looking for a few more volunteers. If you have some time to help with this important program, stop and pick up an application at the front desk.

Spend the day in the Berkshires of Massachusetts on Friday, July 8, 2016. Join us as we explore some of the “Berkshire’s Hidden Gems”. Our first stop will be at the Berkshire Botanical Garden. These public gardens are both functional and ornamental and are among the oldest in the United States. A great meal and relaxation will be enjoyed at Michael’s Restaurant. We’ll also tour Chesterwood, which is the country home, studio and gardens of Daniel Chester French who is the foremost sculptor of public monuments. Some of his works include: Minute Man, and Abraham Lincoln for the Lincoln Memorial. Cost: $99 per person. Reservations are being taken at the Senior Center Front Desk.
