News Release for the Week of May 15, 2017

Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison were at the top of the pop charts with hits like Pretty Woman, Return to Sender, Only the Lonely, It’s Now or Never, Crying and Can’t Help Falling in Love. Enjoy a night of number ones from two legends on Friday, June 9 at 6 p.m. Dessert and coffee are served at the break. Tickets for Elvis & Orbison Show are on sale for $7 per person.

Mark your calendars and pick up your tickets. The Enfield Police Senior Picnic is on Wednesday, June 14 at noon. This annual event, sponsored by the Enfield Police Union and Police Benevolent Association, is held at Enfield Rotary Park on the Senior Center Grounds. This year, the EPD is trying something different. They are showing their appreciation to all Enfield older adult residents who have supported them. Free tickets can be picked up at the Police Station with proof of residency. Entertainment will be provided by the Elderly Brothers. Bring a chair and enjoy the day.

Thank you to all who came to the Enfield Senior Center Craft Fair. Our hard-working volunteers together with Program Coordinator Nancy Darrah earned $3,280 to support Senior Center programs.

Would you like us to keep an emergency contact on file? If you already have a myseniorcenter scan card, just fill out a form in the front office and we can keep it in our database. If you do not have a scan card, please complete a form and we will create it for you.

One of our volunteers had a great suggestion. She thought we needed someone to give tours, help participants who are new to the Senior Center, or just walk around and assist anyone who has a question. So she volunteers on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 as our Concierge. It is a wonderfully welcoming volunteer job. Now, we would like to expand that position to other days of the week. Can you help? Stop by the Senior Center front office and fill out a volunteer application.

The Line Dance Jamboree will be held on Thursday, May 18 at 1 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $7 per person. This includes an afternoon of line dancing and a grinder too. Tickets are on sale now.

Do you need help with some tasks or home repairs? Call 860-253-6395 to schedule an appointment with the Enfield Senior Minor Home Repair Program. This volunteer run program assists older Enfield residents with minor repairs such as fixing railings, changing light bulbs, and pretty much anything that does not require a licensed professional. Residents are not charged for the service, only for the supplies needed.
