299 Elm Street, Enfield, CT  06082

News Release for the Week of August 13, 2018

The First sign up day for September & October classes for non-residents begins Tuesday, August 14 at 8:30 am. Please bring cash or a check payable to the Enfield Senior Center. The last day Fitness September & October registrations will be accepted is on Wednesday, August 29.

We host a Stroke Support Group the second Tuesday of the month, facilitated by Baypath College. Join others for support, friendship, laughter and education.  If you have any questions, please contact Nancy Clark at or Andrea Cordis at or call 413-565-1025. The next meeting is Tuesday, Aug 14, 10 am. Please call 860-763-7425 to register.

The Enfield Senior Center hosts TED Talks from 10:30 to 11:30 on the first and third Thursday of each month. The next TED talk is on August 16.  The discussion will be Architecture That’s Built to Heal.  Architecture is more than a clever arrangement of bricks. In this eloquent talk, Michael Murphy shows how he and his team look far beyond the blueprint when they're designing. Considering factors from airflow to light, theirs is a holistic approach that produces community as well as (beautiful) buildings. He takes us on a tour of projects in countries such as Rwanda and Haiti, and reveals a moving, ambitious plan for The Memorial to Peace and Justice, which he hopes will heal hearts in the American South.

We have a volunteer, who was the president of the Chess Club at High School of Commerce in Springfield, who likes to teach chess.  He is available August 13, 14 and 16 from 9 – 11 am.  Stop by in the dining room if you are interested.

Tickets are still available for Beatles For Sale. You will see a fun and energetic performance. Listen to I Want to Hold Your Hand, Can’t Buy Me Love, Ticket to Ride, All You Need Is Love, and other iconic Beatle masterpieces. Friday, Aug 17, 6 pm.  Only $10 per person and enjoy coffee and dessert served at the break. Doors open at 4 pm.

Trip flyers are available on our website at or can be picked up at the Senior Center.
