[ARCHIVED] Community Update from Town Manager Christopher Bromson 12/16/2020

Due to the upcoming storm and the Governor urging people in Connecticut to avoid all unnecessary travel, please be advised that Town Hall and other administrative offices (with the exception of essential employees in the Police Department, Public Works Department, EMS Department and Emergency Shelters) will be closed on Thursday, December 17, 2020.

The Town of Enfield and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is monitoring Storm Bailey. We encourage all residents to act today to prepare for sheltering in place. This is CDC’s recommendation during the COVID-19 pandemic. Have a back-up plan to shelter with friends or family and procure necessary supplies. For severe cold weather sheltering people should call 2-1-1 for assistance.

In the event of significant power outages, the Town will have warming space available for Town residents only at the Enfield High School. Please do not bring supplies or pets as the center is not intended for extended use. In the event that the Storm causes protracted outages, the Town will open a disaster shelter at Enfield High School for Town residents only.

Winter Farmer's Market

Please join us this Sunday from 11 AM to 3 PM at the Enfield Square Mall for the Winter Farmer’s Market! Last weekend we had over 80 vendors! Get your last-minute Holiday shopping done with our vendors who will have handmade crafts, delicious baked goods, fresh fruits and vegetables, and eggs and meats. Remember to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Follow the market on Facebook and Instagram @EnfieldRegionalFarmersMarket for updates!

Library

Due to the increase in COVID cases, beginning on Monday December 21, the Central Library will be capping capacity at 20 individuals. We are strongly recommending that library patrons call 860-763-7510 to make an appointment to guarantee a spot in the window they would like to visit. As long as the Library is under capacity, walk-ins will be welcome, but they will have to register at the desk.  All our regular services, like browsing for books and movies, computer use, and notary services will remain available. Curbside pickup is also available for anyone who does not want to come into the building.

Through State of Connecticut’s Everybody Learns Grant, we are happy to announce that we have added 18 picnic tables to the Central Library’s grounds. Our Buildings and Grounds crews have been working hard to get them installed as quickly as possible. While this may not be helpful when it is 20 degrees with several inches of snow, when the weather is better, it will provide our patrons with a safe place to enjoy our services. Our IT Department is also working on expanding the Wi-Fi signal on the library grounds.
