[ARCHIVED] Community Update from Town Manager Christopher Bromson 3/5/2021

Community Update from Town Manager Christopher Bromson 3/5/2021

Annex COVID-19 Clinic

The Town has partnered with Johnson Memorial Hospital, a member of Trinity Health of New England, to open a mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic in the gymnasium of the Enfield Annex, the former Enrico Fermi High School. The clinic will be open each Monday from 12:45 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. All state guidelines for vaccine prioritization and eligibility will be followed and the clinic is by appointment only. No walk-ins will be accepted. We would like to commend the extraordinary efforts made by our Building and Grounds staff and our Public Information Officer to work collaboratively with Trinity to prepare and open the clinic in just one week. When fully operational, the clinic will be able to vaccinate up to 625 people a day. Please use VAMS to request an appointment or call Connecticut’s Vaccine Appointment Assist Line at 877-918-2224.

Senior Center Clinic

On March 3rd, the Town of Enfield partnered with the North Central District Health Department to host a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Enfield Senior Center. We are grateful to the health district for collaborating with the Town in this important endeavor. 187 eligible adults received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. We would also like to recognize the staff of the Senior Center, the Department of Social Services, Public Works, the Police Department, and EMS who were present to ensure those registered were able to quickly and safely receive their vaccination.

Enfield Town Council Meeting 3/15/21

Please join us for the Special meeting of the Town Council on Monday, March 15, at 6 PM to hear a presentation on the Enfield Train Station by the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation.

At the 1/19/21 Town Council meeting, Town administration unveiled plans for the Enfield Train Station, which will be located in Downtown Thompsonville. The design will consist of a 200-foot-long platform that will be able to accommodate 6 train cars, be fully accessible, and have a canopy running the entire length. In addition, the surrounding area will be enhanced by adding over 100 parking spaces, walkways, and a utility building that will include amenities including ticket purchasing and a sheltered waiting area. A bus-drop off will accommodate commercial passenger buses and our local Magic Carpet Bus.

When the Enfield Train Station is completed in the next two years, it will truly be a multi-modal train station with numerous opportunities for expansion and development in Thompsonville and Enfield. For more information, please view the Enfield Train Station Presentation at the following link:
