News Release for the Week of December 15, 2014

If you have not been to the Enfield Senior Center, it might be a good thing to put on your list for 2015. There are so many activities, services, trips, and events going on. On Tuesday, January 13 at 10 a.m. we will offer “Welcome to Enfield Senior Center” including a tour and the answers to all of your questions about the Senior Center. You do not have to register, just meet in the Senior Center Library.

John Banker and his band have created a new show. He is always a great entertainer when he plays with Island Rhythms, Riverboat Ramblers and other groups. The new show is called The Ultimate 60s Dance Party and it will be held on Friday, January 16 at 6 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $7 per person and includes dessert and coffee.

This year’s Holly Jolly Celebration features Noah Lis from The Voice. Noah was on Team Blake and is a 23-year-old keyboardist and vocalist from western Massachusetts. The show begins at 1 p.m. Before the show, the Enfield Senior Center Community Café will have a special holiday meal on Wednesday, December 17. Everyone is invited to attend. Just make a reservation by calling 860-763-7428. There is a $2.50 donation requested for the meal and the entertainment is free. Come to one or both. What a wonderful, festive day it will be!

The last meeting of the Polish Conversation Group is on Thursday, December 18 at 2 p.m. We are so fortunate to have had a dedicated leader, Sophie Krzys, who has kept the group running, provided the refreshments and put together a program each month. Although the group will not meet monthly, we will plan a special Polish event for the spring.

Tax-Aide will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning in February at the Senior Center. IRS-trained volunteers complete Federal and State income tax returns at no charge for those 60 and older. Call the Senior Center office for an appointment starting January 2.

The Enfield Senior Center Holiday Hours are as follows: December 23 – 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., No Bingo, December 24 – 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., December 25 – Closed, December 26 – 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. (no meals are served on December 26), December 29 – 31 – 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., January 1 - Closed. The regular Senior Center hours resume on Friday, January 2.

Keep in mind that the Enfield Senior Center does not have classes or meals when the Enfield Public Schools are closed due to snow. If there is a weather delay, however, our schedule goes on as usual. Closing information can be found on television stations, Facebook and Twitter. Additionally, you may want to call the Senior Center to verify the status of your activity. Make your decision carefully before you venture out on a snowy day.
